Joel Lim

Joel Lim is an independent filmmaker and virtual production specialist with over 14 years of creative industry experience. Originally an engineer and banker, Joel shifted to photography and filmmaking, quickly establishing himself as a leading advertising photographer and digital and TV commercial director. He has collaborated with top brands like Samsung, Audi, DBS, and Shiseido, and photographed celebrities including Andy Serkis, and Robin Wright, Stephanie Sun and Karen Mok.

Joel's academic background includes a Master’s in Management Information Systems from Brunel University London and a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from UCL. 

His notable projects include directing "Dead End," overseeing virtual production for "Trap," and directing the opening titles for "The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition Season 2."

As the former Regional Director of Video Programming and Creative Strategy at Tatler Asia, Joel led video content creation across the region. He also taught creative photography in the Bachelor's of Art degree programme at LASALLE College of the Arts.

Currently, Joel focuses on developing virtual production workflows for feature films and TV series, and writing new Asian-focused feature films. His innovative work continues to push the boundaries of film and media production.
